We don't like to pick favorites but our stop in New Orleans has made a lasting impression on the team. Check out this video recap of why:

Diary from the Bus
Day 57, Carver Elementary school:

We visited the Carver Elementary School in New Orleans today. Carver is part of the Louisiana Recovery Project. Since Hurricane Katrina, education has been the focus for the state, as schools in this area were ranked among the worst school systems in the country. Schools in New Orleans that are under performing receive funding from charter schools and public funding from Louisiana Department of Education to put them on the road to success and provide a higher level of education. We visited Ms. Trent's kindergarden class (we love her!) and had the chance to go out to recess with the kids. Because the school is part of the Recovery Program they have a slightly different teaching model that includes longer school hours, school on Saturday's and and regardless of their age, the focus is on attending college.
Ms. Trent also shared with us her experience living in New Orleans and all of the unique traditions and deep rooted culture. One consensus between all of us on the Delivering Happiness team is that people in New Orleans are the nicest people, everything from servers to random people on the street. True Southern hospitality in New Orleans.
New Orleans, you inspire us!
