In his most recent blog post for the Huffington Post, Tony Hsieh, author of Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose and CEO of Zappos, encourages employers to not just focus on people but on “the pipeline.”
The Pipeline Strategy utilized at Zappos ensures a constant flow of employees of varying levels and skills in each department in order for people to constantly move forward and grow. Tony explains:
“Without continually growing and learning both personally and professionally, it's unlikely that any individual employee will still be with the company ten years from now. Our goal at Zappos is for our employees to think of their work not as a job or career, but as a calling.”
What do you think of the Pipeline Strategy at Zappos? Does your workplace focus on individuals or the entire department as an asset to the company?
