2020 has taught us, as a society, many lessons. The most important lesson I believe we have learned is that life is short. We all have a limited time on this Earth to follow our passion, live with purpose, and create an impact. A life lived with purpose and passion results in true authentic happiness and a more fulfilled life. This lesson was demonstrated through the life and legacy of Delivering Happiness co-founder, Tony Hsieh.

Tony Hsieh has been described as an innovator, a visionary, a management guru, and a business pioneer. But to those who knew him best, he was genuine and generous, with a brilliant childlike wonder. He inspired millions of people to live a life with purpose and passion. The idea that authentic happiness is not only achievable not through material things but through truly “enjoying life.”

“I made a list of the happiest periods in my life, and I realized that none of them involved money.”Tony Hsieh

As we celebrate the life of Tony Hsieh, we recognize the extraordinary gift of witnessing the impact of Tony’s vision. The DH model incorporates the ripple of impact. This idea begins with an individual, then ripples through an organization and out to the community. Something that starts small, such as selling shoes online, can grow into a global movement.

“Envision, create, and believe in your own universe, and the universe will form around you.”-Tony Hsieh

Tony envisioned a company where the first priority is not higher profits but a positive culture. He believed that a positive, happier company culture was the key to a successful brand. To create an organization that strived to make their employees happy. An organization that empowers leaders to be human, to “think bigger as a human being,” and create light out of people by “unleashing what [they] already have inside them.”

People may not remember exactly what you did or what you said, but they always remember how you made them feel, that’s what matters the most. -Maya Angelou

Tony made people feel inspired. He made people feel valued and appreciated. He made it okay to be a little weird and encourage people to embrace their true authentic selves. He made people feel grateful to be a part of something larger than themselves. Tony gifted us all the power to live a life of impact. No matter who you are, where you are, or what you have, you can create change in the world. Not sure how or where to start? That's okay, just start. Remember, one small act can ripple out to create change, make a difference, and inspire a movement. You can start a ripple; imagine the change you can make.

We are eternally grateful to be a part of the ripple as we celebrate Tony's legacy and continue his mission of delivering happiness to the world.

Please continue to share your stories and images of Tony with us #celebratingtony #dhmovement.
